End-Times Expert: The ‘Abomination That Causes Desolation’ Has Already Happened

We live in an age full of distractions. We spend hours scrolling through our social media feeds, debating our political view points and pursuing our own interests. But end-times expert Ken Fish of Kingdom Fire Ministries is issuing a clarion call to the body of Christ: It’s time to let Jesus reform our lives. After all, He’s coming back soon.

Unlike hundreds of dispensational theologians before him, though, Ken isn’t claiming to know the exact date of Jesus’ return. Yet he is offering some fresh insight into the end times that the church needs to hear. For instance, many see the “abomination that causes desolation” in the book of Daniel as something that will happen right before Jesus comes back.

But Ken says it’s already happened.

He says this fact is clear in the book of Daniel—if you read it through a Jewish lens as opposed to a dispensational lens. Interestingly, dispensationalism is a primarily American and British line of thought.

In Daniel 12:11, it says, “From the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away and the abomination that makes desolation set up, there shall be 1,290 days.”

Ken says that there is much evidence in the Bible that “days” is a code word for “years.” The time that the daily sacrifice was taken away marked the end of the First Temple period, which was the year 586 B.C. If we go 1,290 years forward from 586 B.C., we arrive at A.D. 705.

What’s significant about A.D. 705? Ken says that’s the exact year a mosque was built on top of the Temple Mount. The Al-Aqsa Mosque was built first, but the Al-Qibli Mosque—where they train imams—was finished in A.D. 705.

“The reason this is the abomination that causes desolation is very simple,” Ken says. “As long as it’s there, no Jewish temple can be built. For Christians, that’s not that big of a deal because we know there is no further sacrifice to be offered beyond the blood of Jesus. But to a Jew, somebody who’s looking to restore the temple sacrifice … as long as it’s up there, we have the worship of a foreign god going on right over the Holy of Holies.”

Daniel 12 continues with verse 12, which says, “Blessed is he who waits and comes to the 1,335 days.”

If you add 1,335 years to A.D. 705, you arrive at 2040.

“We are in the year 2020,” Ken says. “This passage suggests that something really big, cataclysmic, cosmic, is going to happen about 20 years from now. Now, I’m not going to make the mistake of saying Jesus is coming back. He could, … but I think the next 20 years will be a very volatile time. There will be all kinds of conflict and world issues going on. And, of course, the Temple Mount is right in the center of all that.”

But Christians shouldn’t respond to this information with fear, Ken says. Instead, we must use this as an opportunity to reassess our lives and ask God if there is anything He wants to reform in us.

“All of this is caught up in the understanding that we’re living in a 20-year window of momentous and tumultuous things,” Ken says. “… This is really a clarion call for us to know the times in which we live, and to be thoroughly and completely about the work of the Lord up to and including, perhaps, reformatting our lives, changing our spending patterns, using our time differently and making ourselves look a lot more like the early church did.”
