Prophetic Word: Fresh Oil for a New Move

I heard the Lord say, “I am doing a new thing, and it carries fresh oil. This movement will be all of Me and not of man. It won’t be birthed of the flesh. It will be birthed by My Spirit. It cannot be stopped and will not be blocked.”

“And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons” (1 Sam. 16:1, KJV).

God had decreed that the kingdom would be stripped from Saul because of his disobedience. God interrupted Samuel’s grieving and asked, “How long wilt thou mourn for Saul [the past]?” In this same manner, God is prophetically announcing there is a changing of the guard for His people. He is declaring a shift from old things into a new season.

This text conveys the depth of love that the prophet Samuel had for King Saul. He was in deep despair as he mourned for what had been but now was over. He had great affection for Israel’s first king. His hopes of Saul being the king who would lead Israel in the ways of God were dashed with Saul’s rebellion.

God asked Samuel the question, “How long will you weep over the past?” Then He gave the instruction, “Fill your horn full of oil and go.” In other words, He was saying, “I am moving you out of what was and into the new.”

Oil was the visible, tangible representation of the Holy Spirit doing a new thing. When someone was “anointed with oil,” it was a declaration of the Holy Spirit empowering one for a new work.

Both Saul and David were anointed to be king unexpectedly. Saul was searching for his father’s donkeys; David was out in the field keeping his father’s sheep. The Holy Spirit came on both of them as they were anointed by the prophet Samuel. However, the comparisons end there. When Samuel anointed Saul, he knew that Saul was coming because God had told him the day before:

“Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying, To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel” (1 Samuel 9:15-16a).

The Scriptures describe Saul as “higher than any other of the people from his shoulders and upwards” (1 Sam. 10:23). Saul looked the part. He was handsome, tall and now anointed by God. The Word proclaims that after he was anointed that God “gave him another heart.” The contrast of the anointing between Saul and David could not have been more different. Samuel threw a party celebrating Saul, the one whom God had chosen. He had 30 of the most prestigious guests to celebrate the momentous occasion; with David, it was done in secret with no fanfare.

There is a new move of God that does not appear like any other that we have seen. God is raising up those who have been disqualified by man’s religious systems, but they have been mantled by God’s approval.

Both Saul and David were anointed with the same oil by the same prophet, but the circumstances and the containers used to anoint them could not be more different. I believe it was a deliberate prophetic act that God gave Samuel instructions to use the different vessels. Samuel used a “vial of oil” to anoint Saul in 1 Samuel 10:1. According to Strong’s Concordance, the Hebrew word for vial is pak which means a vial, flask or box. It was man-made. Remember, Israel had rejected God and no longer wanted to be a theocracy but wanted to be like the other nations. They cried out for a king. So a man-made tool through which the oil flowed was appropriate.

God told Samuel, “fill your horn of oil.” The word “horn” is translated from the Hebrew word qeren, which is “a horn of an ox, a goat or ram.” It was a God-made container. It represents sacrifice and is used to convey power and strength.

The oil of an ox is flowing through the body of Christ in this hour. The church will no longer reduce itself to fit in with culture. Passivity has passed, and the warrior bride is arising with the strength and apostolic anointing of the ox.

The flow will be pure as Davids are raised up that possess a different heart and a new sound. The church will no longer be satisfied with gimmicks and the accolades of men. They will contend for the genuine presence of God.

“I called forth the mighty army of Egypt with all its chariots and horses. I drew them beneath the waves, and they drowned, their lives snuffed out like a smoldering candlewick. “But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland” (Isa. 43:17-19, NLT).

God says, “Forget all of that. It is nothing compared to what I am going to do. The church is coming into its greatest hour. Awakening, revival and the gifts of the Spirit are your portion. You have not seen anything yet.”

Get ready for an “all-God movement.” {eoa}
