I was standing on the shore, with the water lapping over my feet up to my ankles. Then all the water began to rush back toward the sea, leaving my feet on dry ground.
The Lord spoke to me and said that this was a picture of what will happen this year. We are standing at the shore, ready for the prophesied wave to come and hit. Many prophecies this year have said that this will be the year of favor, the year of abundance, the year of double recompense and the year of revival.
However, like the water leaving the shore and rushing back to the ocean, many who stand in faith for this promise will experience something of a dry season and say, “This is not what was supposed to happen, God.” The disappointment is temporary … a test of faith.
In the natural, the reason the water rushes away is because the sea is drawing up the water in preparation for a wave to form and crash upon the shore. I believe that this is what is happening in the spirit. The wave will come; it’s preparing to hit. But in the meanwhile, as the water draws into the sea, we have been given an invitation to draw into Him as well, when the water disappears from where we are standing.
Three Options Before Us
God is moving and if we want to follow Him properly, we must move too, drawing into Him. I saw three options before us:
One option, when the water goes in and we feel dry and disappointed, is to chase after the water and get caught up in the glorious wave being prepared so that we can be a part of what God is doing, even before the wave hits.
The second option is to remain on the shore and wait. The wave will hit; we’ll experience it because we’re waiting for it, but it will come very suddenly. And just as it is when a big wave hits, it’ll be difficult to stay on our feet.
The third option is to run away, back into the towns and homes—away from the shore. When a tsunami hits, there is usually a lot that can be destroyed in the process. I feel that these are the ones who will find offense in this new move of God, because it has disrupted and destroyed the things they’ve built to keep them safe. They will find little glory in the wave of God and see only destruction.
This Is Your Invitation
Therefore, we must take this opportunity, this invitation, to draw into God and be caught up in the wave from the very beginning, even before it hits. That way we will be flexible and experience the full glory of what is to come and see the promises He’s spoken over this year come to pass in our lives.
“But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works” (Ps. 73:28, ESV).
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday” (Ps. 91:1-6; see also Psalm 91:7-16).
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16). {eoa}
