During our most recent Tuesday night prayer meeting, the Lord took me into an open vision. I found myself hovering high above the United States of America. Across the U.S. lay a giant, and he was sleeping. His feet were in Florida and his head was in Alaska.
I then began to descend closer to the earth and to the sleeping giant. As I got closer, I was able to see that the giant was actually composed of many smaller parts and not a whole mass. As I got even closer, I could see that the giant was made up of churches, para-church ministries and individual ministers and believers.
The Blanket of Hopelessness
I then began to ascend back to my original vantage point and could see that the giant was now covered by a thick weighted blanket. This blanket was keeping the giant fast asleep. I could tell that the blanket’s weight kept him immobile and asleep. The blanket had a tag on the end with a name etched into it. The name of the blanket was hopelessness, and it was woven into what covered the giant.
I then heard Proverbs 6:10-11:
“Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep—so will your poverty come upon you like a stalker, and your need as an armed man.”
I asked the Lord what had placed this blanket over the giant and caused it to go to sleep. He said that the media has laid a heavy blanket of hopelessness over the giant called the church, through the phrase: “new normal.” The enemy has spoken prophetically over the church through the media that our new normal is death, disease, depression, poverty, anxiety, unrest, anger and violence. He then said, “This is not My normal. My normal is 2 Corinthians 3:18:
”But we all, seeing the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, as in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory by the Spirit of the Lord.'”
I then heard a voice that sounded like thunder say, “Call them back to glory to glory. Call them back to beholding for transformation. Call them back to My Good News.” As I heard this, “Call them back to glory to glory,” the body began to move, and then the vision ended.
Returning to Glory
I believe that the Lord is calling us, the body of Christ, into a time of focused fasting from the negative media to focus on His glory. He is calling on the sleeping giant to shed hopelessness, wake up, take its place and function in that delegated authority that has already been given, but it will only come through what you feed yourself.
I challenge you to do a self-check with these questions:
—What am I feeding on more, news or the Word of God?
—Have my times of prayer been infiltrated by what I hear or read in the news and do I almost exclusively pray about those things?
—Do I worry more than I worship?
—Has fear been a consistent foe in these weeks that I have yet to overcome?
Ask the Lord today how you are to sever ties with the “new normal” that will free you up to walk in glory to glory. {eoa}
