Just like in the times of Elijah and Jezebel, today we are contending for the altars of worship. As you may be aware, in the recent Grammy awards ceremony there was a performance that literally portrayed Satanic worship.
In 1 Kings 18:21, Elijah is speaking to the people in his famous showdown with Ahab, Jezebel, and the priests of Baal on Mount Carmel. He says, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him and if Baal, then follow him.” Then the text notes an interesting observation, “But the people answered him not a word.”
I pray that it would not be said of our generation that we didn’t answer a word in the face of contending altars of worship.
May we be a generation who will arise and answer the call for such a time as this!
So, why am I referencing contending altars of worship?
Satanic Worship Headlines Grammys
I used to love watching the Grammys. But I can’t handle watching the Grammys anymore—and I did not watch it this year. Instead of being a celebration of musical excellence, unfortunately, it has become more a parade of jesting and a portal of polluting the next generation with the spirit of Jezebel, pollution, and filth.
But one headline of this year’s Grammy Awards read, “Satanic Worship Headlines Grammys.”
The Hollywood Reporter in an article titled, “Grammys: Sam Smith, Kim Petras Deliver Fiery Performance of ‘Unholy’ with BDSM Themes,” stated,
“Madonna introduced the performance with a monologue about what she’s learned about rebellion and being a troublemaker after her four decades in the music industry, noting that an artist is doing something right if they’re being called provocative.
“Surrounded by a monochromatic wash of red lights and in front of a backdrop of fire, Smith opened up the song, encircled by dancers, wearing an ensemble and working with props that had allusions to BDSM themes. Halfway through the song, Smith added a horned hat to his look.
“Petras sang her section from inside a cage onstage, and wore a red leather mini-dress with her signature long, blonde hair.
“In the press room following the performance, Petras spoke about the inspiration behind it, saying: ‘I think a lot of people, honestly, have kind of labeled what I stand for and what Sam stands for as religiously not cool. And I personally grew up wondering about religion and wanting to be a part of it, but then slowly realizing it doesn’t want me to be a part of it. So it’s a take on not being able to choose religion and not being able to live the way that people might want you to live, because, you know, as a trans person, I’m kind of already not wanted in religion.’
“Earlier Petras and Smith won the Grammy for best pop duo/group performance for “Unholy” with Petras saying she was the first transgender winner in the category’s history.”
And this has hit the press and the liberal media is shouting for joy.
Charisma News said the following, “Surrounded by dancers with long black hair cloaked in red robes, English singer Sam Smith was center stage at the Grammys glorifying satanic rituals in a skin tight leather outfit as he sang ‘Unholy.’
“Smith identifies as non-binary. His performance at the Grammys which streamed to millions around the world was a clear symbol of the vociferous spiritual warfare happening in our culture today.”
That’s why I am titling this article, “Contending Altars of Worship.”
Now there was another group that won four Grammys called Maverick City Worship. And the all-time winner of the most Grammys who is beautiful, and sings very well, but is completely lewd also won four Grammys.
So, one the one hand, you had a sensual, lewd singer who wins four Grammys, and then you have a gospel, Jesus-centered group who wins four—contending altars of worship.
No longer is it something just over here happening on the side. It is mainstream now.
Elijah, Jezebel, and the Jehu Anointing
Years ago, I co-wrote a book with Lou Engle titled, The Call of the Elijah Revolution.
In “Chapter 6: The spirit of Elijah Versus Jezebel,” we wrote, “Throughout the land battle lines are being drawn for the next skirmish of the greatest war in history. The conflict is not new; it is in fact as old as time. On one side stands the adversary, a demonic spirit that seeks to destroy the family, morality, integrity, and every element of a godly society. Its goal is to neutralize legitimate leadership and veil human eyes to the reality of the one true God, and its weapons are guile, deceit, manipulation, and control. Although the spirit darkness is genderless, manifesting in the lives of men and women alike and appearing throughout the ages in many forms of adaptive deception, this fiendish seducer is commonly identified as the ‘Jezebel’ spirit.
“Arrayed against this demonic force is the army of the King of kings, the church, anointed by the grace of God and endowed by the Holy Spirit with his power and authority. The church bearing as she does the same prophetic presence that was on Elijah of old, stands as an absolute antithesis to the Jezebel spirit. Elijah and Jezebel were mortal enemies.
