Back in 1987, Bob Hoskins saw a vision. God showed him a picture of Satan’s next target: the youth of the world.
“He really saw prophetically more than 30 years ago many things we’ve seen come true today, just how Satan was going to form his weapons of warfare over the next generation,” Hoskins’ son, Dr. Rob Hoskins, tells Dr. Steve Greene on a recent episode of the Greenelines podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network. That vision—and that passion for the welfare of children—birthed One Hope, a global ministry that seeks to transform the lives of children through the power of God’s Word.
“Even back then, he told me about in that vision where he saw kids watching pornography on the palms of their hands,” Hoskins says. “Well, this was before cellphones existed, but that’s what he was seeing. He just didn’t know what it was.
“And so we have seen over the last 30 years, a proliferation of the enemy’s attacks on children, I believe, like no other generation in the history of humanity,” Hoskins says.
The senior Hoskins’ response to the vision evokes the biblical picture of Isaiah: “Lord, what am I seeing, and what can I do?”
“The only thing that will overcome these lies is truth,” God told him. “And my Word is truth. Take my Word and give it to every child in the world.”
For the past 30-plus years, that clear word from God has served as One Hope’s call. Today, the organization has reached 1.7 billion children with copies of God’s Word in more than 600 languages. The ministry uses everything from printed literature to the most popular children’s Bible app in the world (over 60 million installations) to teaching ministries, church programming and more—all geared to share the truth of Scripture with the next generation and protect their souls from the enemy’s lies.
“Our passion is to go where the Word has never gone before,” Hoskins says. “Right now, 72% of all Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists have never had a personal encounter with a Christian. … We live in the age of globalization, we live in the age of the internet, but we really believe in equipping the church—and individuals and parents and ministries—to be able to connect with those who have never had a chance to hear the life-giving, transforming story of Jesus. That’s what our passion is.”
