In this first podcast about healing the soul of America and the West, Bishop Jim Logan and Rev. Dr. Brad Long share deeply of their own experience of healing from wounding of past and present racial injustice. They are working together, praying for a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit to heal the soul of America through the restoration of the biblical Judeo-Christian foundations upon which the U.S. and Western culture were founded.
Together they represent two streams—Dr. Long’s ancestors were Southern slave owners, and Bishop Logan is African American:
We tell the story of how we were able to firsthand experience repentance and confession of our participation in both the sin of slavery and in the wounding that took place in those who were enslaved. This Spirit-led event actually took place on the land that my slave-owning English and Scottish ancestors had owned from before the American Revolution.
Together Bishop Logan and I experienced the fulfillment of Martin Luther King Jr.’s prophetic vision in the 1963, “I Have a Dream” speech, in which he said:
“I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.”
Except in our situation, this was taking place on the “red hills” of North Carolina, and the land once owned by my slave-owning ancestors.
