Pastor Craig Groeschel learned some key lessons while being locked up for 14 days completely alone, as he had to self-quarantine after being exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. He says that in order for him to remain focused and productive as a leader, it’s very important to keep a consistent routine at home. That means going to bed and waking up at the normal time, even when you’re not going anywhere. Regular exercise is important, too.
“What I would recommend you do is that you take a shower, get dressed, wear some clothes that make you say, ‘This is going to be a good day,'” Groeschel says. “In my mind, it’s really hard to be unshaven, wearing a baseball cap, wearing shorts and a tank top, telling myself I’m an effective leader. …
“I’m trying to trigger those pathways in my brain that say, ‘I’m an effective leader. I’m going to be productive today. I’m going to get a lot done.’ I would suggest to you, set three work goals. Whatever those priorities are, make sure that you do them. Do them first. … Listen to a podcast, read a good book, stretch your mind.”
