After enduring three miscarriages within a year, Julia Jeffress Sadler wasn’t the least bit surprised when her doctor told her she was pregnant with triplets. After all the pain and emotional distress she and her husband had been through, she came to the realization that God is not only the God of the impossible, but a God that makes big things happen.
However, she also discovered that it was up to her and her husband to petition God for the extraordinary. It was then they learned how to pray bold prayers and expect big things, and it was then that Blake, Barrett and Blair were born.
Jeffress Sadler is the daughter of Robert Jeffress, lead pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas. She and her husband, Ryan, struggled through infertility until the birth of their triplets in 2017.
“Until (the three miscarriages), we really didn’t have any reason to think anything was wrong,” Jeffress Sadler told Dr. Steve Greene on a recent episode of “Greenelines” on the Charisma Podcast Network. “My parents told us we needed a way to have kids, and they have been right about everything so far. And so we decided to follow their advice.
“After losing so many pregnancies in less than a year, we began praying super specifically for multiples, three children, and leaned on Ephesians 3:20, which says God gives you more than anything you can hope for or imagine. People expect me to say we were surprised when we found out we were having triplets. We really weren’t. I just remember thinking, ‘That’s my God. That’s what He does.’ And it was just amazing.
“When you pray for big things, I encourage you to look at what Scripture says. Handling big prayer is something only God can do. What do you want for your family, your career or your ministry? Pray accordingly. The book of James says we have not because we ask not. So, we need to take time to ask God for our heart’s desires and those things that are really important to us.”
