What Happens When You Seek Deliverance in the Wrong Place

I remember going up to prayer lines and desiring the person preaching to pray over me. I think most of us do, that is why we go to attend events to hear the speaker.

Let’s be honest—we’ve had those thoughts such as The speaker is more anointed or I didn’t feel the power or presence of God when that person prayed for me.

Are we looking to people to deliver us, or we are seeking the deliverer?

The Bible says, “I give you authority” (Luke 10:19a). Jesus has given us authority. You have more authority over your situation than I do, than a deliverance minister does. People call or email me and ask me to pray for them to be delivered and then wait to be delivered.

Deliverance doesn’t work that way. We can’t pray for someone to be supernaturally delivered. We need to expel the demons out. You have the authority to do that in your own life. You don’t have to wait for a deliverance minister to cast out your demons.

Jesus instructed us to cast out demons, “These signs will accompany those who believe: In My name, they will cast out demons” (Mark 16:17a). Did you ever think to cast out demons meant starting with your own? You cannot pray for others when you can’t pray for yourself. In my book, Speak Out, I discuss the power of declaring and audible prayer. We must be speaking out and declaring as Jesus did. We need to arise and take our rightful place and position of authority that He has given us.

We need a mind shift. We can’t look at someone’s anointing to deliver us; we must look to Jesus. I am not dismissing the fact that some people are anointed. I am telling you that you have the power of God in you. The resurrection life and power of Jesus within you.

Instead of waiting for someone to deliver you, get active in your prayer life. Spend time with the Holy Spirit and allow Jesus to start the deliverance process. After you have done your part, then seek assistance, if needed, from a credible deliverance ministry or my book, Discerning and Destroying the Works of Satan, will assist you in self-deliverance.

Stop looking to man or woman for what God alone does. Don’t put your deliverance in the future waiting for this event, or this person to come to town. Look at your Creator and heavenly Father, who sent His Son Jesus to deliver you. Seek Him diligently, and your deliverance will begin to manifest in your home! {eoa}
