How to Know if You’re a People-Pleaser or a God-Pleaser

Are we understanding how Yeshua, our Messiah, walked the earth? When the Bible says we are to be more like Christ, are we clear on this?

Many of us don’t understand our position as a servant of the Most High. We are misled to believe we are liked by all and are to be treated fairly. We often feel the need to self-defend instead of allowing Father to fight our battles. We aim to please man instead of pleasing God at all times.

We are in the world and tend to carry the world’s ways and not those of Yahweh. As people are often offended by what man does to us and not stand on God’s Word in confidence. Father says the battle is not ours; it is the Lord’s (2 Chron. 20:15).

We condemn, judge and turn our backs on one another. We show hate and unforgiveness toward each other, including ourselves.

As a servant, a child of the Most High, joint heir to the kingdom of God and a royal priesthood. According to 1 Corinthians 4:10-13, “We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are honorable, but we are despised. Even to this present hour we both hunger and thirst, and are poorly clothed and beaten and homeless. We labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless. Being persecuted, we endure. Being slandered, we encourage. We are made as the filth of the world, and are the refuse of all things to this day.”

In 2 Corinthians 4:8-12, Paul wrote, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; and always carrying around in the body the death of the Lord Jesus, that also the life of Jesus might be expressed in our bodies. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that also the life of Jesus might be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then, death works in us, but life in you.”

It’s not about people-pleasing. It’s not about popularity. It’s not about proving you are right or condemning yourself and others when you are wrong. It is all about seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness and loving one another.

This is where your position as a servant of God is.

1 John 4:7-11 says, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this way the love of God was revealed to us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we must also love one another.” {eoa}
