4 Ways to Love and Honor Your Wife Well

Praying with and for your wife will convey that you love her.

My wife and I recently celebrated our 40th anniversary in the mountains of Colorado with our three adult children and their spouses.

During the trip, our kids shared several interesting observations regarding our marriage and how they had seen us model sacrificial love for them. Here are four things that I’d like to pass on to husbands to help you love and honor your wife well. I am so glad I did these and wish I had done them even better:

1. Pray for and with your wife. Pausing before you leave each morning to give your wife a hug and praying a short prayer with her is time well-spent.

2. Realize that little things can be big. Remembering not to slam the door or leave your dirty clothes on the floor may seem like little things, but they communicate to your wife that you love her, are thinking about her, and do not take her for granted.

3. Make memories. Be intentional about creating experiences and scheduling trips that can be reflected on and enjoyed for a lifetime. Sometimes these memories actually become legendary.

4. Parent as a team. Always work together in guiding and disciplining your kids. Work things out in private so you can be on the same page when dealing with your kids.
