Why Preaching the Blood of Jesus Sets Captives Free

This woman witnessed a man being delivered as she was preaching.

I recently ministered to a congregation about the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ. I used an interpreter to translate the message into the language of the local people. I was midway into the lesson when all of a sudden the interpreter started to shout.

“I can’t do this! This is too hard for me. Will someone please pray for me?”

I reached my hand out and touched him on the shoulder to pray for him, when all of a sudden the young man ran out of the sanctuary and into the hallway. It caused a great disruption in the meeting, and the people stood up to watch him. I was able to get the people to sit down and we continued on with the meeting. But what I was not able to see from the pulpit was the young man as he began to vomit and vomit and vomit.

What happened during this healing service? Unknown to me, this nice young man was not born-again, and the demons within him could not handle the message of the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ. This young man was delivered from demon spirits and received Christ as his Savior.

I have seen time and time again, as I preach about the blood that Jesus shed for us that supernatural power is released and the demons residing within the unregenerated souls are literally tormented and they scream and act out in terror.

What is the message of the redemptive blood of Christ? “Surely he has borne our grief and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed him stricken,  smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed” (Is. 53:4-5).

If ever there was a time, it is now for us, the ambassadors of Christ, to follow His example and to be about our heavenly Father’s business and return to the true gospel message of the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ and preach and minister, with His authority with signs and wonders following, and set the captives free.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to preach the acceptable year of the Lord” (Luke 4:18-19). {eoa}
