Imagine walking into your first day at law school to find your professor is none other than Jay Sekulow. The outspoken advocate for First Amendment rights is on staff at Regent University’s law school as well as chief counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice.
Sekulow was barely out of law school himself when he argued his first case before the U.S. Supreme Court. A Jewish believer in Jesus, Sekulow was general counsel for Jews for Jesus—and just 30 years old. In that landmark case, he represented Jews for Jesus members who were arrested for passing out tracts at Los Angeles Airport. He won the case and went on to argue—and win—many more, including litigation to challenge Obamacare, defund Planned Parenthood and protect pro-lifers from arrest.
Who hasn’t seen him on CNN or Fox News commenting—in his trademarked breathless, rapid-fire style—on the latest fight to protect religious and constitutional freedoms? That passion spurred him to found centers for law and justice in France, Russia, Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Korea, and help assemble a skilled national security legal team to arm Israel to defend herself.
Sekulow doesn’t shy away from battles, no matter how high the profile or low the odds.
