“Now it will be, if you will diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I am commanding you today, then the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. … But it will happen, if you will not listen to the voice of the Lord your God, by being careful to do all His commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you” (Deut. 28:1, 15).
In writing a patriotic piece for Fox News Online, I have been reflecting on the Memorial Service that was held three days after 9/11. My father was the principal speaker at The National Cathedral that was packed with national and international leaders and dignitaries. His message was riveting. He concluded by clarifying the choice that faced us as a nation: Would we implode and disintegrate emotionally and spiritually?
Or would we rebuild on a solid foundation of faith in God? Fourteen years later, I’m left to wonder … how does America today reflect the choice that we made then? Could it be that the worst attack of all was not on the Twin Towers or the Pentagon or UA Flight #93 and a field in Pennsylvania? Could it be that the worst attack of all was on our nation’s foundation of faith in the living God?
The following three-minute video is of a Harvard Business School professor, Dr. Clay Christensen, giving a very sobering viewpoint of what happens when we as a nation forsake our foundation of faith. It’s worth watching. Then join me in asking God what we can do to rebuild our nation’s solid foundation of faith.
