‘Abortion Contract’ Surfaces Between NBA Player JJ Redick and Vanessa Lopez

NBA player J.J. Redick reportedly had an “abortion contract” with his now ex-girlfriend, Vanessa Lopez.

Redick, who calls himself a Christian on his Twitter profile, allegedly offered to maintain a dating relationship with Lopez for a year or pay her $25,000 in exchange for aborting a baby she claimed was his.

Media Takeout released previously confidential paperwork dated Sept. 13, 2007, between the Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard and the Orlando, Fla., model, who has been called a mistress of retired NBA star Shaquille O’Neal.

Though Redick denied Lopez’s child was his, he agreed to attempt to restart a “social and/or dating relationship” with her for a year after doctors confirmed the pregnancy and it was terminated.

“REDICK has agreed that once LOPEZ has terminated said pregnancy and has provided medical proof of said termination satisfactory to REDICK, including, but not limited to, direct access to LOPEZ’s medical files and records of the clinic, practice or hospital conducting the termination and has submitted to a post-pregnancy examination by a doctor of REDICK’s choice to confirm both the prior pregnancy and its termination, REDICK and LOPEZ shall attempt to establish and maintain a social and/or dating relationship between themselves for a period of one year,” the agreement says in part, signed by both parties.

The contract also points out that since the life of the relationship could not be guaranteed, the basketball player would pay Lopez $25,000 if he decided it was impossible to restart a relationship with her. However, she would receive nothing if she made the decision.

“In the event REDICK decides in his sole discretion that he is unable or unwilling to establish and/or maintain the Relationship and provides written notice of this decision to LOPEZ, he shall pay LOPEZ the sum of Twenty-Five Thousand and No/100 dollars ($25,000.00) (‘Settlement Payment’) within 30 days of the delivery of the written notice,” the agreement states.

Redick married girlfriend Chelsea Kilgore in 2010. He was 23, unmarried and about to start his second season in the NBA as a player for the Orlando Magic when he signed the contract, which was drafted in Florida. Redick played for the Magic until February, when he was acquired by the Milwaukee Bucks in a midseason trade. Earlier this month he moved to the Clippers.

This is not the first time Lopez has been involved in legal action with an ex. The Orlando Sentinel reports that she filed a civil lawsuit in 2010 against O’Neal, whom she says cyberstalked her after she ended their five-year affair. According to the Sentinel, TMZ reported that a judge dismissed the lawsuit.
