Lionsgate | Starring Louis Gossett Jr., Lauren Holly,
William Devane, Cedric Sanders
The Least Among You, based on real-life events, is a
story about discrimination, perseverance, courage and faith.
During the 1965 Watts riots in Los Angeles, Richard Kelly
(Cedric Sanders) was falsely arrested. He was ordered to serve probation at an
all-white seminary, where he daily faced ridicule, racism and abuse. Just when
he felt like giving up, he met an unlikely mentor who motivated him to keep
going.
Producer Julia Verdin says the story’s positive message
inspired her. “We all should have
the courage to follow our convictions,” she says. “One must go deep to
find out who one is. It is a beautiful story of mentorship, and finding one’s
own personal faith.”
Bonus features
include interview with the real Richard Kelly, deleted scenes and a
behind-the-scenes segment.
