Releasing today, Passion: Awakening from sixsteprecords features leading worship artists Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Christy Nockels, Hillsong United, David Crowder Band and others on a dozen tracks of emotion-charged anthems recorded live. Eight of the songs are new, first-time releases.
Most of the songs were written jointly by the artists for the Passion 2010 conference held in Atlanta earlier this year at which 22,000 university-age attendees gathered to worship together and hear strategies for global social-justice initiatives.
New songs include “Our God” (Tomlin, Redman) “Say, Say” (Kristian Stanfill), “How He Loves” (Crowder) and “Healing Is in Your Hands” (Nockels). Some already are making their way into churches around the world. “Our God,” a declaration of God’s power and love, has been getting radio play since February.
“Fourteen years and 12 albums into the Passion Movement, I could not be more proud of this project,” says Passion conferences founder Louie Giglio. “The music, most written specifically for this gathering, is fresh—pushing us forward as we seek to wed worship and justice for [Jesus’] fame in all the earth.”
Sixstepsrecords (sixstepsrecords.com), which Giglio founded in 2000, is the worship label of Passion Conferences. For more information on the Passion Movement, visit 268generation.com.
